We think that complete financial control is critical for any courier, sameday, chauffeur or taxi company. We've thought about the things which keep you awake at night. Things like wondering if you're profitable, wondering how many outstanding debts you have, wondering how much you paid a particular supplier this year. At any point in time you should be able to use the computer system to provide an accurate and up-to-date financial breakdown of your business.

Remember the old adage - turnover is vanity, profit is sanity. Well how are you going to know the difference, if you don't know the financial health of your company. You won't know whether you're making a profit until your accountant breaks it to you (with their bill) at the end of the financial year. If you think about that, it could mean you've been trading at a loss for 1 year to 18 months before you find out. What a nightmare!

As we said in the invoicing section, we have not written an accounts package. There are many good account packages already. The package we prefer is Sage. It is probably the one your accountant will recommend. So we decided we would write Controller, so that Controller's data can be exported to Sage. Sage will enable you to monitor profits, chase debts, do V.A.T. returns and much more.
