Courier Systems software providers for courier, sameday, chauffeur and taxi companies since 1988

Courier Systems has humble beginnings. Back in 1979, Nigel was working for a small electronics firm on the South Coast of England, where he started dabbling in the newly emerging world of micro computers. Of course, back then computers did not look like the grey boxes sitting on most peoples desks today, in fact, they did not really exist in a complete form at all, they had to be built from scratch or from a kit of parts. The idea of writing a program to make a machine do something really captured his imagination!

One spring day in 1984, while Nigel was programming at home, he saw a motorcycle messenger pass by and, within a few hours and a couple of 'phone calls, found himself working for a local Brighton delivery firm as a motorcycle courier. It soon became obvious that his innovative problem solving, and conscientious attention to detail, were better used organising the courier office. It was only logical for Nigel to do the organising using a computer system.

In 1988 Nigel left the courier firm, and decided to write a software package that would work for all courier companies. This developed into software which would also work for taxi companies - you either move around a package or a person! Then along came chauffeur companies, sameday, delivery hubs. Nigel has been continually developing Controller since 1988 to work in all sorts of despatch situations. Thousands of people in the courier, chauffeur and taxi industries have, and are using Controller despatch software.

Over the years Courier Systems has grown, contracted, expanded and gone through all the regular growing pains that all successful businesses experience. The despatch industry has changed dramatically from a software suppliers point of view. The market is now flooded with cheap and unreliable software solutions, cobbled together by 'system integrators' who have never worked in a courier or taxi office and have no real 'hands on' experience of how their software is expected to work. They go out of business as quickly as they started up, leaving their customers unsupported and in search of another software solution.

Courier Systems is now entering a new phase of development namely, the marketing and support of our software solely over the Internet.
